While we are always happy to help, we also want you to take all necessary steps to save yourself time and money! There are simple things you can check before calling us to give a helping hand- and it may even save you from having to pay for a service call. Here are some things you can do prior to calling us if you notice irregularities in your heating and cooling system.
1. Change your air filter.
Sometimes if your system isn’t getting enough air on intake, the restricted airflow can cause your system not to work properly. If it’s been a while since you changed your filter, try this first and see if your system kicks on and starts working properly once it gets proper air flow.
2. Check your breaker box.
Maybe you had some other appliances installed or one of the kids was messing around near the breaker box. Check your circuit breaker to make sure the switch wasn’t flipped for your HVAC system. Also remember that it can take a few minutes for your system to reset once the power is restored.
3. Verify any vents or ducts aren’t blocked.
If it seems like you aren’t getting proper air flow, double-check all of your vents and ducts. Blockages are oftentimes the leading cause of airflow issues.
4. Call your property manager.
If you rent, call your property manager before calling an HVAC company.
5. Make sure you have electrical power.
This might seem like a no-brainer, but we’ve actually received calls from customers who actually were experiencing a power outage. Check and make sure there aren’t other things in your home without power or if your neighbors might also be without power.
6. Check the batteries in your thermostat.
Put new batteries in your thermostat and see if that solves the problem. If it isn’t lit, put in some new batteries. If you’ve gone through this quick, simple checklist and are still experiencing problems- give us a call! 937-439-4696. We also offer emergency 24/7 heating and cooling repair services in the Kettering and surrounding areas- including Centerville, Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Fairborn, Beavercreek, Dayton, Yellow Springs, Oakwood, and more!
